Delurk

As you know, if you read any blogs besides this one, today is what we bloggers call Delurking Day in this grand and mysterious place of interweb writing.

I am hesitant to participate for a couple of reasons. First, lurking- to me- is something best left to the bottom of the ocean. Or perhaps what a Peeping Tom does in your bushes as he waits to peer through your windows. And I don't want to insinuate that if you are reading here, and not commenting, that you are wasting away on the dark, deep ocean floor somewhere. Or crouching out in my (totally overgrown and under-groomed) hedges. I prefer to think of you as "hanging out" or "passing through" or... well, lot of things besides LURKING. *shutter*

...And there's another reason I don't want to ask you to delurk. It's because I'm... well, I'm... hmmmm. Let's see. How can I say this without looking and feeling like a total looser? Or like I'm sitting here trolling for compliments? Ok. I'll try again. I'm afraid to ask you to delurk becausewhatifnoonedoesandthenIlooksilly.

Whew. There. I said it. I'm afraid that the comments section will be one big long CRICKETS CHIRPING and I'll be all "....." and "....." and perhaps "....." Just sitting here, waiting for someone to say hi. Twirling my thumbs.

So, if you read here, and you usually don't add to the comments section? Would you please say hi? I am quite curious who you are, where you are from, and why you are here. Also, what is your favorite photograph (of either yourself or your family or whatever)? One of my all-time favorite photos is of Joan and Kate, naked, sitting on a white blanket at about 6 months.

(Thank you!)

P.S. The great and powerful spellcheck that this website provides- this blog hosting website- does not recognize the words "blogger", "delurk", or "interweb". Which are all Blogging Words. Way to go, Blogspot! You've got your corner of the internet COMPLETELY. FIGURED. OUT.

P.P.S. And now I just spellchecked again, and it also does not recognize "internet"! Or "spellcheck". Or, even more funny "blogspot"!

I don't usually lurk, and I am NOT GOING TO START NOW. My favorite photo is one of Henry with his lower lip sucked in (he used to do that all the time when he was a baby) looking at the cat with HUGE WIDE EYES, while the cat is just like "Whatevs."

Hi! My favourite photo is of my three kids rolling down a grassy hill together.

Hi! I'm Rebecca. I guess I'm a lurker...but I like to think of myself as more of an observer. I'm the person who will sit in a room full of new people and listen for a while before I go ahead and start talking. Same with blogs. :)

I live in the DC area with my husband and 14 month old son. We're a military family, so we just moved here this last summer. We'll be here about two years, and then we'll see what is next in life for us.

Favorite photo? That's a tough one, especially as I got a fancy DSLR camera from my sweet husband this last summer, and I've gone crazy taking pictures of my son since then. I'm going to say that my favorite picture, though, is of my husband and me on our honeymoon, dressed for dinner. We look (and were/are) happy, and that is the foundation for our family.

Cheezy, no? :)

Ha! Stupid spell check. Just one favorite photo? Out of the thousands I take per month? Hmm.
My 3 boys in the grass, all looking very solemn, is one of my faves.

Hardly a lurker, but hello! My favorite photo is one of my girl when she was a few weeks ago and had a total milk hangover. I love the expression in her half closed eyes and the tiny pout of her baby lips.

Um. I am a lurker! I have 17 month old identical twins. I can't remember how I found your blog but if I guessed it would probably be one of the 1000 times I googled identical twins while I was pregnant and freaking out about having well identical twins! So, that was a long time ago which is lurky of me to just now say hey! But I have loved seeing my delurkers! So hey! I love watching you raise your girls.

I don't really consider myself a lurker here - but I don't comment every time, especially lately because I can hardly find any computer time.

My favorite photo... maybe the one from the first time Harper met Michael? That was pretty awesome.

I just started reading your blog the other day after you left that comment about your great-uncle and I'm not sure if I've commented yet, but I wasn't planning to be a lurker. So, hi! Here I am! I'll be back!

Yo girlfriend. You know I love you.

My fav photo is probably of Emmett (slash MARIN) looking over his shoulder at the camera on a spring day. Darn those kids (Emmett, Marin) are gorgeous.

I am more of a very occassional commenter than a lurker. And my favorite photo is a tossup between one of the pictures of Ryan and I on our wedding day down by the canal while a ship was coming in, and one of the ultrasound photos of our son; we got a really terrific profile shot, and I love looking at it because I can't wait to meet him.
Well, that was kind of pukey cute, huh (think South Park, where Stan pukes when he sees Wendy)?

Can't have you thinking you're not noticed, so I'm posting - but for the record, I'm with you on hating the "lurker" term. I don't write in to the magazines I read, but I don't think I'm "lurking" there, and while I enjoy reading your content, I often am just enjoying it and don't have anything in particular to say in return. So, please know that I enjoy hearing what is going on with you, partly because I also live in a small town, and am also a mom of twins - but I am just not a big commenter.

My favorite picture right now is of my husband and I sipping Icees with our girls while we were on vacation this winter.

Not really de-lurking, since I'm pretty sure I comment on here from time-to-time...but your reasons for NOT wanting to ask about lurkers...exactly the same as mine. My mother and MIL are always telling me about these RANDOM people in their lives who supposedly read my blog...and I don't really want to know, I guess. And what if I called them out, and turns out they don't really read, they just "say" they do to make my mothers happy? How embarrassing for all involved.

-gasp-

Okay. My favorite picture is a professional shot I had taken of Michael when he was 9 months old. Naked with a Santa hat on...little tiny baby butt in full view. He will definitely hate me someday, but I store it in my Christmas decoration box and I WILL put it out every year. It makes me happy.

I'm a day late and a dollar (or more) short. oops!

Fave picture? There is one from my kids this summer, sitting all scrunched together on my kitchen floor. They "almost" look like they like each other!

I'm a day late too....I came across your blog recently, and I live in a tiny town too :) My girls are just a bit younger than yours. You are a wonderful writer! I'm sorry I haven't commented before. My favorite photo is one of my 2 girls and our dog outside -- I'm not much of a photographer, but the light is really beautiful in that picture. --Bethany

Late and SO NOT A LURKER but HI!

My favorite photo? Are you kidding me? There is no way you could make me choose....

Okay fine

I love one I took of E and Z with their "little sister" "big sister" shirts on where E is a squealing blur and Z is smiling at her.

Hi! Way back when you first started blogging, I think you stopped by my blog and I stopped by here, but then somehow I lost track of you for quite a while. Then sometime in recent months I stopped by again...and then occasional checking turned into: now you're in my reader so it's like I'm STALKING you. Sorry I haven't commented sooner. Sometimes I feel self-conscious about my own blog and it keeps me from commenting...

But here's a couple of things that I would've said recently:
-OMG! I call my sister SEESTER too! Actually, we call each other that. And when I came out of the dressing room wearing the wedding dress I eventually bought, she said, "Oh, Seester, I love it."
-We have three grandparents with three step-grandparents, and I felt so badly on the Christmas thing. So sorry. That was just: awful.

So I'll try to say hey here and there...

What a great question!

There's a picture of my brother and I at my sister's wedding. We are hugging and we didn't realize anyone was snapping the photo. It was such a sweet moment, and I'm so glad I have it.

Well I'm no lurker, but hi anyways!
My favorite photos (at the moment) are: a newborn shot of Addy that my mother in law took the day she was born that is just SHOCKINGLY beautiful. Her face is looking right at the camera and she just looks so OLD and WISE and PURE all at once. I have it in our bedroom and I look at it in awe every night, still. It's just beautiful. And my other, newer favorite is of Eli and my father in law playing in the leaves this autumn. My FIl is throwing him up in the air and Eli is looking down and grinning at his papa, and the sun is on them at just the right angle and... Magic.

I am not a lurker--I am just your classic infrequent visitor. Sorry. I've been having real trouble keeping up with blog reading lately. Stupid life getting the way... I just caught up (mostly) on the last few months, and man, so sorry about your Christmas. And there I was, suggesting to you via FB that being snowed in and staying an extra day(s?) was such a lovely thing. Ugh.

So. Gonna try to do better with this reading thing. Because you are so worth it, friend. And because, OMG your writing is fanstastic and it makes me laugh and cry and feel.

Now. My favorite picture is the one on your New Year's card. I think I like it more than any picture I've ever taken. My second favorite is the picture of myself and my husband smooching our firstborn when he was about a year and a half. He has a happy squished grin on this face. It's a very happy picture.
